From Matichon Weekly, August 23, 2013
Cover reads: Just get out on the street whenever they want to. And scold me when I refuse to join them.
[On the cover is the Royal Thai Army’s Commander Gen. Prayuth Chanocha. Reference is to Gen. Prayuth’s interview with reporters on August 19 saying that those who try to cause conflict between the army and the government don’t use their brain. He also said that people should mark his words that if they cannot solve political problems intellectually and legally instead of protesting on the street, then don’t live together. Just go and be outlaws in the jungle. And the people will know how the country will be without the army (meaning the military provides stability when politicians are fighting).]
From ASTV Manager Weekly, August 24,
Cover reads: Pae Lim delivers it, dare the cockroaches
[‘Pae Lim’ refers to the People Alliance for Democracy’s leader and the ASTV Manger Group’s owner Sondhi Limthongkul. The ‘cockroaches’ are the Democrat Party members. Reference is to the PAD’s first and second generation leaders’ final statement announced via an ASTV channel on Friday, August 23. Led by Sondhi and Maj.Gen Chamlong Srimuang, the leaders stated that they decided to stop their political role so that PAD supporters are free to decide whether to join other groups’ protest against the amnesty bills or not. However, if the Democrat MPs show their sincerity by resigning and fighting alongside the people on the street to bring truly meaningful change to the Thai politics, then they’re willing to follow the Democrats.]
