The Rush to Amend the Constitution Now!

From Komchadluek, December 11, 2012
Thaksin Shinawatra: Faster, we’re about to conquer it.
[The reference is to the government's constant attempts to amend the current constitution to allow Thaksin to return as a free man.
This contrasts to the analyses made after the last cabinet reshuffle when it was assumed that the move to bring the party firmly under Shinawatra family control and keep radical Red Shirt voices sidelined meant that the government was going to go slow on amending the charter for Thaksin and would concentrate on its long term survival. However, within weeks it was clear that the government was still planning to move as quickly as possible to get the amendment process underway.
The Economist had an article correctly reporting this trend. Thaksin lobbyist Robert Amsterdam (and others) played up the angle that the government was going slow and not rushing on the constitution by purposely pointing to the analysis of the past cabinet reshuffle and ignoring more recent developments that indicated there would be no slowdown in the government single goal--get the constitution amended to create conditions for a Thaksin return.]
