In the black box: Monday long cartoon story by Bancha/Kamin
Um… Those ghosts.
[The ghosts, left to right are: Jakrapob Penkair (Thaksin protegee in government and anti-monarchy activist who became involved with a Red Shirt group advocating violent revolution in Thailand; he has lived in exile since 2012), Jaruphongse Reungsuwan (founded an overseas organization to agitate against the military junta in Thailand), and Thaksin Shinawatra.]
Man: She just left our house and became a ghost a few days ago.
[This reflects the belief that the court cases being pressed against former PM Yingluck will turn her into a “homeless ghost.” In Buddhist vernacular lore, a homeless ghost is a ghost that cannot be reborn because it has died before its time to die. In the Thai world, to compare someone with the homeless ghost is an insult. A homeless ghost wanders in exile and tries to return to its home to sow discord. The exiled people in the cartoon are compared to these ghosts because they wander outside the country hoping to return and attempt to create political agitation in the meantime.]
