In the 1st contract, MRTA has reserved the right to constructed or not. If BTSC agrees with MRTA to run the extension from Bearing to Samut Prakarn, no need for the construction of the new depot in Samut Prakarn, custting down much of the construction cost.
BTSC also showing strong interest to run Purple line in addition to the Phaholyothin extension from Mochit to Saphan Mai ... and the company will fight against BMCL to get the concession on 24 Feb 2011.
If BTS is winning the bid for the purple line (Bangsue - Bang Phai), BTSC is going to press the order for 25 new sets of three-car formation.
The second constract of platelaying will need to to be amended.
In the year 2011, BTSC got 10% more passenger - causing the rising of both revenue and profit with the corresponding rates due to hte fact that tehre are new condo along the line.
Futhermore, 12 sets of CNR Changchun rolling stocks are in use in Silom line.
The opening of Onnut - bearing extension in would add 80000-100000 more passengers.
For the case of Wongwian Yai - Bangwah extension, BTSC is going to purchase 5 more sets of 4-car formations if BMA has approved BTSC to run the extension and sign the contract by the end of 2011.
So far, the average numebr of passengers during the weekdays is now 480000 passengers a day - up from the same period of year 2010 by 5% - very closed to targeted goal despite of the stopping durign Bloody April-May 2010. The cost reduction for the traffic during 1 April 2010 - 31 march 2011 period would add more profit by 8%.

More trains for Airport Link, new route planned, BKK Post 14/02/2012
In another development, the cabinet yesterday approved a request from the Transport Ministry for the Mass Rapid Transit Authority to borrow 72.25 billion baht from the Finance Ministry for the Blue Line and Green Line electric railway network extensions. Deputy government spokesman Pakdiharn Himathongkham said 54.41 billion baht will fund the Blue Line extension from Hua Lamphong to Bang Kae and from Bang Sue to Tha Phra. Meanwhile, 17.84 billion baht will support the extension of the Green Line from Bearing to Samut Prakan.
Forgot to mention that I traveled along much of this route at the end of the 1st week in April and saw no signs of any preliminary works or any work sites. Doesn't mean that they weren't there somewhere but .....

another note on the other side: went by bus from PakNam to Bangna last week: saw that beyond SamRong they have now also started the preparatory works for extension there-but not in SamRong itself.
I'd hate to be stuck on a bus in Samrong just before the bridge during peak once construction does start! Could be a very long trip....bring a book.

Bidding for The second contract on Bearing - Pak Nam - with the mean prices of 2.108 billion Baht
CKC PCL - 2,465,006,800 Baht
STEC-AS - 2,625,785,000 Baht
ITD PCL - 2,718,340,000 Baht
So, Ch. Karnchan PCL (CKC PCL) won the bidding ...but needs further negotiation to keep the price within 10% limit (2.3188 Billion Baht) .. If accepted, the conttract can be signed and the construction (Platelaying) can be started in March 2013 with the construction period to be done within 1030 days. The labor shortage despite of 300 Baht daily wage the most serious problem- esp Purple line
For the first contract handled by Ch. Karnchan PCL (CKC PCL) with a price tag of 14.0886 Billion Baht, it is 0.83% done since the contractors are working on removing the infrastructure.
For the case of Mochit - Saphan Mai - Khoo Khot extension of 20 km [Mochit - Saphan Mai 12 km and Saphan Mai - Khoo Khot 8 km] will need the reassessment - as the old price is according to 2006 price which did not take inflation by delays and 300 Baht daily wage into account ... The new assessment will be submitted to the cabinet in the following manner: 12 km Mochit - Saphan Mai will be 36 Billion Baht while Saphan Mai - Khoo Khot will be at 23.5 billion Baht - total 59.5 billion Baht - almost 60 billion Baht
