So it has gone back to 4 stations for the Bang Wah ext after the previous addition of one station in the plans to make 5 in all?

If BMA really wants to do a test run in Dec 2010 they better start the tender this month based on how long it took to build the 2 Taksin ext stations and fit them out (nearly 5 yrs!). But good to see that some PR is being done on further ext to Phetkasem even if it may not be followed up!

It goes southwest after Wong Wian Yai, and then takes a long turn and goes almost straight north at the end. The end at Phetkasem is almost the same north as Wong Wian Yai station - just runs parallel Ratchapruek road all the way. In Google Maps you can see the viaduct almost till its end, just the last satellite photo is a bit too old.

Your correct for the first 2km as it heads WSW to Ratchadapisek (Inner ring rd) and then curves west briefly for about 500 m as it passes the Mahachai line and then NW for about 2 kms after it passes Wutthakat rd . Finally for the last 1 km, the viaduct heads almost directly north pn the weta side of Ratchapruek as it approaches the beautiful Klong Prasijuran and hits Phetkasem .

I have actually travelled along much of the route. First some 6 years ago while the viaduct was still being built along Ratchapruek, later in late 05 when construction was close to Phetkasem (a report being early in this thread, post #60) and a couple of times in 07/08 just at the Phetkasem end after the viaduct was compeleted. You'll note my constant querying in the last few years as to why the stations have not been contracted as thus ext could easilt be open by now.

I once suggested that Bang Wah could be further extended north a few kms along Ratchapruek. Then, Prannok (W line) could extend further east to thus link up into one continuous BTS line which would run from Samut Prakhan to Lam Lukka via Bang Wah. (Perhaps in 2038?)

Are there are definite plans to complete the section beyond Wong Wien Yai or is it still in the "planning stage"?

AFAIK they haven't even decided what stations they will build, which I'd imagine makes it impossible start any further work...

Thanks. That is a pity since the basic concrete infrastructure is virtually complete.

Nahh ... I don't think so ... At least, they are fighting to conceive the budget for Phase 2 to Phetkasem and the position of the 4-5 stations have been defined.

Only the concrete infrastructure for the tracks is complete till the final ending at Phetkasem, for the stations they need to built some more pillars and other concrete stuff.

The viaduct has been completed for some time. In fact the section near WWY were built so long ago it should be starting to show cracks in the concrete by now!

This is not so far back in the thread but then go further back and you'll find my constant queries for the last 3/4 years as to why no tender has been forthcoming for the stations to be built.

    Toss a coin, 2011 or 2015?

I thought that Wutthakarat station was planned to be built on the north side of Wutthakarat road?

South of the Wutt. road would be better as it would be closer to the Mahachai/Red Line for a future interchange station but I seem to remember that there was concern to build a station south of Wutt rd due to the curve of the viaduct as it passes over the Mahachai line?

    No.

As you know the viaduct to Phetkasem rd has been finished for over 2 yrs or more (check earlier posts in this thread).

The current BMA Gov stated in May that he wanted BMA to finance the ext and for it to open by the end of 2009 but given that no tender has yet gone out for the construction then that date seems very unlikely but then most completion dates usually are.
