Khon Khen could really do with a proper bus system as the songtaews really can't cope. The BRT Red LIne proposal looks like a logical start give the number of people using the main north - south axis and especially given the size of KK Uni.

Sattelite Image along proposed red line BRT of Khon Kaen

Now, the map of Khon Kaen City Municipal has added the proposed BRT line from Samran (Northern suburb of Khon Kaen City to Tha Phra (Southern Suburb of Khon Kaen City) via Friendship Highway (Highway No. 2) - the main artery of Khon Kaen City - as the circular dots along Friendship Highway (Highway No. 2)

I work with those doing the the Khorat study. As shown in the route map, the biggest issue for whatever system is deemed appropriate at the end of the day is that because of the existing road network and built environment (buildings!) it is presently not possible to run at at-grade system of any type through the center of the city, which pretty much defeats the purpose of high-capacity transit.

To get into the center of town, it is possible to build an elevated system, however there are almost no (save for Xiamen BRT) global cases to learn from the impacts of elevated BRT.

The detailed design is now finished... up to the politicians to decide which mode to support!
