Geocodes for Bueng Kan province and its subdivisions

I somehow missed the update, but already in April DOPA had issued the full list of codes for the new province and the districts, subdistricts and municipalities. I have posted the full list on my blog. The system of creating the codes is straight-forward, with one notable exception: Normally the first municipality in a province has the code 99, thus one would expect for Bueng Kan subdistrict municipality to be 3899. However, it got the 3898, and the 3899 is vacant.

Earlier in this thread the question whether Bueng Kan subdistrict municipality will be upgraded to a town like all the provincial capitals, even though the province hall is planned to be built in a different subdistrict. Khun Wisarut avoided to answer back then, but the missing 3899 makes me think there might be a new municipality in planning for the area around the province hall. Do I guess right?

More likely, Bueng Karn Town Municipal will be expanded to cover the Provincial Hall ...
The other possibility is to upgrade Tambon Administration Organization into sub-District Municipal

The Proposed the 5th Friendship Bridge across Mekhong at Bueng Karn and Pak Xan is on Nong Khai - Bueng Karn Highway (AKA Highway 212) - 5 km before reaching downtown Bueng Karn.

Bueng Karn town will be expanded in the direction of Bueng Karn - Phang khon Highway, especially at Ban None Somboon due to the existing Bueng Karn Prison and Rajabhat University of Udon Thani (Bueng Karn Campus)

January 2012 or 2011? Either there is a typo in here, or in Skyscrapercity, where it says 2554...

Wasn't the province hall originally planned near Non Sombun, on highway 222? And by the "expanding of the town" do you actually mean a forthcoming change in the size of the Thesaban Bueng Kan to include area of the TAO Bueng Kan, which covers the area of Ban Tha Khrai, or just the general growth direction of the settlement. I am a bit confused since you also mention an enlargement towards Non Sombun and the Udon Thani Rajabhat University campus, which are both on highway 222 and in a southern direction, whereas 212 goes to the southeast.

PT men want to upgrade Chum Phae as a new province (the 78th province)
Note. Thai nettizens pointing out that it has a lot to do with land speculation for provincial hall or so and even Bueng Karn has become a cast to point for massive land speculation for both Provincial Hall & Government complex along with the 5th Friendship Bridge after becoming the new province

Interesting, to split off the western part of Khon Kaen was in discussion several years ago, then usually called "Phu Wiang Province" as Phu Wiang district was supposed to become the Mueang district. When I blogged about it, there were only few sources, and since 2006 nothing new was reported about the plan, so it was apparently quietly shelved. It is interesting how many of the old province plans now reappear after Bueng Kan was successfully created, like the split of Lopburi province.

Furthermore, the idea behind the movement to separate Thonburi and Minburi from BMA has a lot to do with political football

    1. Bangkok Faction of PT men felt that they need to weaken Democrat control of BKK (Thonburi and Minburi included) by separating BMA into Thonburi and Minburi as the way to improve the election prospect within Greater BKK for PT men and ensure total victory ... even the core of BKK along the eastern bank of Chao Phraya is still a stronghold of Democrat

    2. the Competition betwen Ai Chaloem and Ee Sudarat faction to control BKK - and theri conflict has reached the point that they have to make a separated provinces out of Bangkok since they cannot get along with each other.

    3. Inferior complex of those who live in Thonburi - they keep making endless whining that they are the son of concubines so they get much lower budget than the eastern bank of Chao Phraya

Bueng Kan - Para Rubber capital of Isan - already have 800,000 rai of Para rubber plantation (Half of 1.6 Million Rai of arable land) by 50000 Households in all 8 Districts - almost 400000 Rai has already mature enough for harvesting - already made money at the rate of 1000 Million Baht a month - (12,000 Million Baht a year) ... If all 800,000 rai of para rubber plantation are fully harvested, the revenue will be at the rate of 3000 Million Baht a month - (36,000 Million Baht a year)

In September 2012, the cross border trade volume is 400 Million Baht while the trade volume of Bueng karn in the whole budget year of 2012 (October 2011-2012) has become more than 5,000 Million Baht - with a hope that the 5th bridge across Mekhong will boost even more cross border trade volume. All have been done through Bueng Karn Custom Checkpoint, Ban Huay kat temporary Checkpoint in Pak kat District and Ban Bung Kla temporary Checkpoint in Bung Kla district - already for the trade in Vietnam and China in addition to Laos due to the proximity to vietnamese border (just 200 km from Thailand)

Now, Bueng Kan Provincial has proposed the 5th Bridge across Mekhong at Ban Huay Sueam Nuea, Mueang District of Bueng Karn - just 12 km from Bueng Karn Provincial hall. At the time being both Bueng Karn and Pak Xan agrees in principal on the 5th Bridge across Mekhong in principal but the next level is to ask for the budget and loan to support this project.

Furthermore, the major upgrade of Highway 212 from Nong Khai to Bueng Karn into 4 lane Highway along with the roads within the province to facilitate the connection with the neighbor provinces + new distribution center near the foot of the proposed Bridge across Mekhong at Ban Huay Sueam Nuea, Mueang District of Bueng Karn are in need.

MOT agrees in principal to construct the 5th Friendship Bridge across Mekhon to connect Bueng Karn and Pak Xan as well as the connection to Vietnam but the design of the bridge will be done by the end of 2013 ... After that, the construction will be started in 2014
