    Bang Sue plans

NNT article today on the plans for Bang Sue.

BANGKOK, 22 June 2010 (0NNT) — The committee on transportation has agreed on using 2,000 rais of land in the Bang Sue area to become the major connecting station for BTS and railway train.

After a meeting attended by delegates from the Ministry of Transportation and the Committee on Transportation of the Parliament, members agreed that the relocation of the connecting station from the Hua Lum Pong station to Bang Sue will help increase logistic efficiency.

According to the permanent secretary of the transport ministry, Supot Saplom the costs are speculated to be reduced up to 4-5% in five years.

The Committee on Transportation also stressed that the development of the transportation system should take into consideration the impacts of the environment.

The mention project will be sent to the Cabinet and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to asses its environmental impacts before implementation.
I only wonder how it can be a connecting station with BTS (Skytrain), as there's no line of BTS around there. Do they mean MRTA (Subway), together with the Purple Line starting close to Bang Sue?

From memory the original Masterplan plan was to have a circular monorail line linking a number of key points around the Bang Sue development area. The plan for Makkasan was also to have a monorail going around the whole site.

To me monorail is much more suitable and appropriate for such a purpose at these two sites than the silly plans to create a few monorail transit lines in BKK.....the intention to build the Pink Line as monorail being the most stupid.

Some more info form the final desing report (now 3 yrs old) on the proposed new Bang Sue terminal were posted on SSC but it is still unclear to me exactly what is gong on with this tender after it was previously suspended (along with the Rangsit Red line tender).

Update from the SRT site dated 2 November states that as of 20 October SRT & JICA is still considering the offer price and will engage in price negotiation with the lowest bid. The 3 bidders are (1) SU Joint Venture (2) CH. Karnchang PCL (3) Italian - Thai Development PCL.

No time frame is given. (The tender date was 13 Dec 2010!)

That's due to the fact that the price offered by STECON is still higher than the medium price specified by SRT so , SRT has to ask STECON to reduce price forthe consturction of Bangsue central but STECON inssitign that SRT must accept the price accrodign to STECON...

However, when the potlical has switched the side from Democrat/PJT to PT in 2011, STECON have reluctantly accept the price as insisted by SRT or the contractors with PT men's connection wioll steal this contract from STECON.

After 15 month negotiation, JICA has agreed in principal on the case of STECON winning the bidding for Bangsue Central at 29,862 Million Baht, However, it will take another week to approved the details in the contract with STECON before signing ceremony ... After, the 2nd and 3rd Contraction will be opened

Extensions of Airport Link from Phyathai to Donmueang with the distance of 21.8 km will have the different purpose than red line commuter that pass along the route

An article in the Bangkok Business Online yesterday reports that the Permanent Secretary fro Transport, Mr Surat, announced plans to move most rail services from Hualumpong to the new Bang Sue terminal if I understand it correctly. Bang Sue terminal is estimated to take 5 years to build from 2011-2015!
Now, those politicians want to grab the space of the intercity platforms within the 3rd floor to make a platform for High Speed train to the point that there will be no intercity platform left ... forcing to construct the intercity building at the eastern wing despite of the fact that SRT intends to constructed the separated buiding for High Speed train
