[To slash someone’s face is a Thai idiom meaning to embarrass or shame them.
The cartoon shows Red Shirt sympathizers trying to protest PM Prayuth at the U.N. Supporters of the junta point to the PM’s friendly handshake with U.S. President Obama and Thailand’s appointment as head of the G77 as proof that the international community was unphased by anti-Prayuth protests or the Thai coup. Thus the protesters themselves end up being slashed in the cartoon.]
