Chao Mool Kham

From Manager, October 17, 2013
Left: Chao Mool Muang – what the Red Shirts see
[Some Red Shirts in the Thaksin stronghold of Chiang Mai Province believe that Thaksin Shinawatra is the reincarnation of Chao Mool Muang, an apocryphal king of the Lanna Kingdom.]
Right: Chao Mool Kham – what the vest sees

[“Mool” is a polite word for “khi” or “shit.” “Kham” means funny, laughable.
“Vest” refers to Thirayuth Boonmi, a well known academic who likes to wear a vest and is know in the press as the “vest academic.” He gave a speech criticizing Premier Yingluck Shinawatra and her brother Thaksin on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the October 14, 1973 popular uprising. He used the word “kee” or “shit” to describe politics and politicians of the present day and particularly the Shinawatras.
The cartoonist implies that Thaksin’s die-hard supporters see him as reincarnated royalty, but others see his him (and his supposed royal name) as “shit that gets stuck in the anus.”]
