[Reference is to the recent incidence when an ASTV Manager car were shot at on January 26. Jintanart Limthongkul, President of the ASTV Manager Group, later commented sarcastically that it could be ‘Ai Pued’ who shot at those cars.
‘Ai Pued’ is the name for a mysterious man who Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Ubumrung accused of killing Pol. Sen. Sgt. Maj. Suvichai Rodvimut on October 29, 2001. Chalerm’s son, Duangchalerm, was accused of the shooting. He fled the country and returned once the charges had been dropped. Police officers finally filed a criminal charge against ‘Ai Pued.’ Since then ‘Ai Pued’ has been a name used to ruefully pin blame on when everyone knows a high-born or powerful person really committed the crime.
