Repositioning of cannon - Thought of bad omen makes guns go sideways - Bangkok Post, August 21, 2004
Landscaping at the Defence Ministry has been completed including the repositioning of 40 ancient cannons in its front yard. The two-month work cost about one million baht, said defence permanent secretary Gen Oud Buangbon.
The cannons, originally pointed towards the Grand Palace, had earlier been reversed to face the ministry's front building.
However, some people thought that could be a bad omen and the guns were again repositioned to point sideways...
