Nils points out: Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (many internal and external image/gallery links at the bottom) and the train station. Also Prokudin-Gorskii's collection is now at Library of Congress, which has an explanation of the techniques used to acquire and display the images. Some comparisons with recent photos. He also made a portrait of Tolstoy!
