Garlic Protest - June 10, 2008
Sadortu reports: Garlic growers from three districts, namely, Mae La Noi, Mae Sa Rieng and Sop Mei, gathered in front of the Mae Sa Rieng District Office asking the government to subsidize the garlic prices.  There are two requests: to have the government subsidize garlic prices to be 2023 baht/kg. The reason to help the garlic growers is because the longer the garlic are kept, the weaker they are. The weight of the garlic will reduce. Therefore, the garlic grower network has to request the government to solve the problem within this August.

If growing garlic has no price (return), we’d rather grow marijuana instead.
